This month WCM see’s a few new additons to our management roster including the wicked reggae/ragga sounds of Specialist Moss. No stranger to success we catch up with Specialist Moss and find out what he has been up to…..
Can you tell us a little bit about your musical background and how your singing career began?
Music has been around me since I was born. My Dad had a band and a sound system he would always play reggae music (sing/play guitar) in the house. My brother, sister and I started a group when we were young, I was about 8yrs and I played the drums and the keyboard. By the age of 11yrs I was writing songs and mcing to dancehall music at home and in my local youth club. I was involved with a high profile radio station called transmission1 and would regularly mc over jungle, house and garage. My style grew and I incorporated singing to my mcing, I my sing-jay style was formed.
What are your musical influences?
My Dad who taught me everything about playing instruments. Roots, rock, reggae like, the Mighty Diamonds, Burning Spear, Tenor Saw, Papa San, Lieutenant Stitchie, Ninja Man, Shabba Ranks, Smiley Culture. Out of the jungle mc’s – MC Det, Moose, Tenor Fly, Navigator.
No stranger to TV can you tell us a little bit about your TV history?
I presented a TV show on C4 called Flava which was a music programme where we would interview various artists. Some of my co-hosts included Ms Dynamite, Mc Spee and Sweetie Irie.
What have been the highlights of you career?
Signing my first record deal. Touring and hosting for MTV Base/Blues and Soul Magazine. Working with Nike freestyler and touring with them. Meeting so many genuine people who have the same passion for music.
What projects are you currently working on and with who?
My Dubstyle EP featuring Mr Williamz which is a reggae and dubstep flava, also a Studio One reggae EP with Peckins. Also working with Zed Bias, Trigga and Killa Benz my Madd Again crew.
What can we see coming from you in the near future?
Music, music and more music of many genres because I am the Specialist!
